Significant amounts of litter along the side of the A46 northern relief road, particularly north of Beaumont Leys.

Reported via iOS in the Litter (NH) category anonymously at 19:19, Thu 4 February 2021

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2525547.

Litter of all sorts has collected along the verges and in the hedges on the A46. This is a significant risk to wildlife and potentially dangerous should any of it be picked up by wind and fly at road users.

Updates

  • I am complaining about the litter on the A46. It's on both sides of the road and is particularly evident now the vegetation has been cleared. In some places it's worse than others e.g near Birstall, Beaumont Leys and Anstey. It's got to be a hazard to the environment and unless cleared I fear it'll only encourage more people to throw their litter out on the verge sides. Please take a look at this before the vegetation grows up and the matter gets forgotten about. It's a truly awful sight. Many thanks.

  • The removal of litter is the responsibility of the local authority - please note this is not the County Council. This complaints needs to be redirected toward the local authority under the Environment Protection Act.
