Large pothole on A27 eastbound, in left hand filter lane, on approach to Southerham roundabout

Reported via desktop in the Pothole (NH) category anonymously at 15:48, Thu 4 February 2021

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2524983.

At 14:00 today I drove eastbound on the A27, and was in the left filter lane at the Southerham Roundabout, ready to proceed left towards the Cuilfail tunnel. There is an enormous pothole in the middle of this lane, which is very difficult to avoid. Indeed, as I turned left there were two cars in the laybys having punctures repaired, which may or may not be related, however this pothole is very dangerous.

Updates

  • Pot hole is still there at 18:10 this evening. In left hand land taking first exit towards tunnel. Hit the pot hole and it caused a complete loss of pressure and flat tire. Very dangerous pot hole. Managed to make it to the petrol station where a further two people had flat tyres from the same pot hole!
