Screening falling from bridge onto towpath

Reported via desktop in the Structures (eg bridges, fencing, noise barriers) (NH) category anonymously at 12:08, Wed 3 February 2021

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2521480.

There is corrugated screening coming away from the bridge. several pieces have already detached and a new piece has fallen alongside the towpath. Further pieces are clearly about to be shed.

The loose sheeting should be immediately be removed, and presumably needs to be replaced to reinstate whatever function (noise, debris) it was installed for.

Updates

  • Thank you for your patience whilst our inspector reviewed your report.

Our inspector visited the location and agrees that remedial work is needed to ensure the safety of road users.

As such, a repair is planned but this is not assessed as a safety issue by our inspector at this time and although the damaged panels have been removed, the replacement panels will be procured and the installed when the works can be programmed into the schedule.

Although we always aim to complete the repairs as planned, the date may change due to unforeseen circumstances.

We will provide a further update to confirm when the work has been completed or, in exceptional circumstances, a revised date.
