Permanent puddles in the cycle path and poor surfacing

The dual carriageway for motor traffic drains fine onto the dipped parts of the cycle path. This fundamental design flaw represents a serious hazard for vulnerable users who, as you can see from the cycle tyre marks, are forced onto slippery mud right next to fast moving motor traffic. The surface is also very poor and needs resurfacing in places, particularly towards the South Hinksey end.

The issue is worse than ever. The puddles are deeper and cover the full distance to the road. Pedestrians and cyclists using the path either have to get wet or dodge 70mph traffic.

This problem is getting worse– the puddles are very muddy making a serious hazard to cyclists who could easily slip into the path of A34 traffic.
