Dreadful traffic queuing

I travel down the A361 to go south down the M5 You have put three lanes into one lane! What did you think this would do? One massive traffic jam. At least two miles of traffic all day so I can’t use this route anymore I would be late for work. Then it gets better you decide the slip road coming from the south end of the M5 you again make one lane at the top so two lanes have to go to one and you now can’t use the left lane to head back up the A361 There has been no thought for working people at all! Why is the left lane on the 361 not marked M5 north bound only leaving the right lane M5 south and straight on this would help. The slip road south why is the left lane not marked A361 North bound leaving the right lane M5 north or round the roundabout Could someone please visit see the chaos and try and help us workers. Would be nice if you worked 24 hours and finished this quicker than the 9th of December Thank you Sean Boorman

Thank you for contacting Highways England. We're sorry for the inconvenience caused to your journey by our works.
We undertook traffic counts last week and over the weekend which suggested that daytime lane closures on the Roundabout over the M5 linking M5, A361 & A38 at Sampford Peverell wouldn't cause delays during lockdown. There has been delays and additional work to our programme so we wanted to use the lockdown period to make up time and complete the job as per our original programme.
Following customer feedback on the morning of 12 November we changed the timings of the traffic signals to see if this would improve things, but unfortunately we could still see a significant impact on traffic queues.
We've now removed these daytime closures and gone back to only working nights with occasional off peak daytime lane closures where absolutely necessary.
