No sign

Reported via mobile in the Sign issue (NH) category anonymously at 13:09, Thu 12 November 2020

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2384075.

There is no Lorry on a black background sign telling vehicles over 7.5T to continue on the A47 to Thickthorn interchange to access the Food Park at Beckhithe. Consequently Lorries cut through School Lane Little Melton ignoring a 7.5T restriction.

Updates

  • Thank you for your enquiry.

We acknowledge that heavy goods vehicles (HGVs), cutting through School Lane in Little Melton, ignoring the 7.5T restriction could cause problems in the area. However, we do not have any plans to install a sign to redirect HGVs to continue on the A47 to Thickthorn interchange to access the food park at Beckhithe.

The other roads off the slip road of the A47 are suitable for HGVs to use and there is no continuity of signs on the local road from the junction to School Lane.

Signs for local roads where there are weight restrictions are the responsibility of the local highways authority, in this case Norfolk County Council (NCC). If they wish us to install signs on our trunk road network they will ask us and make an application for joint third party works.

If you wish to pursue this with Norfolk County Council the different ways of contacting them can be found on the Contact Norfolk County Council page of their website.

State changed to: No further action
