No warning signs

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 2383310.

Roadworks on southbound M1 beginning just before junction 29 have absolutely zero warnings of lane closure. No illuminated signage or yellow tin signs. Suddenly only lane 4 is open. It is dark, windy and raining and the cones appear from a distance to be across the exit slip only. They are not. Accident waiting to happen.

  • Thank you for your patience whilst we looked into your enquiry in relation to your report. We can confirm that the contractor has provided a plan for the traffic management involved in these works. The plan shows that signs were placed at 1 mile showing road works ahead and then at 800m, 600m, 400m and 200m showing three lanes closed for the works. The lane closure was installed at 8.06pm and removed at 12.24am. The works were completed on the night of the 12 November.
