Driver/passenger of lorry threw litter out window whilst driving
Reported via mobile in the Slip Roads (NH) category anonymously at 15:43, Friday 2 October 2026
Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 10184792.
Entering A69 eastbound (just after brockbrushes farm and shop) a flat bed lorry (looks like it was transporting scaffolding) threw 4 plastic drinks bottles out both windows while in motion driving up the slip road. Bottles landed in road and on grass verge. I have the vehicle registration noted.

Thank you for contacting National Highways.
We have passed your report to our local inspector who will review the issue as part of their next safety inspection and arrange any remedial action.
Littering and fly tipping by people is, unfortunately, a behaviour that has a big impact on some parts of our roads. We aim to keep our roads as tidy and free of litter as we can.
Our litter picking is carefully planned to try to minimise the impact it has on road users and the safety of our people. Litter picks often require lane closures, which are disruptive to traffic flow.
To help reduce the frequency of this disruption, where we can, we usually combine our reactive litter picks with other maintenance work which can result in what appears to be a delayed response.
We are not an enforcement agency but you can report the issue https://www.gov.uk/ report-litter and you will need: -
• Vehicle details: Registration number, make, model, and colour. • Time and place: Exact location, date, and time of the incident. • The event: What type of litter was thrown and whether it came from the driver or a passenger. • Evidence: Dashcam footage or photos, if you have them.
Kind regards
National Highways
