Large mound across carriageway

Reported via mobile in the Road surface (NH) category anonymously at 09:03, Monday 21 September 2026

Sent to National Highways less than a minute later. FixMyStreet ref: 10126437.

Where the 2 road surfaces meet there is a large hump across both lanes and is impossible not to hit. The issue has been here months and months and is getting worse. Hitting this at 70mph has damaged my car (popped tyre and dented alloy wheel) You can see other commuters/regular drivers slowing for the lump as they don’t want to hit it at the speed limit.

Updates

  • Thank you for making your report.

We can confirm that our inspection team have attended this location to assess the reported issue.

Safety is our priority and we have now scheduled work to repair this defect.

Until repairs can be carried out, we’ve also requested that our Traffic Management contractors put out signage to warn drivers of an uneven road surface and we’ll continue to closely monitor this area.

Although we always aim to complete repairs as quickly as possible, timescales do vary as we try to minimise disruption to customers by combining activities into single closures and always ensuring the safety of our people.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused and we appreciate your feedback.

    Kind regards National Highways
